Calling all book nerds!
Hi, I'm redcap and I'm a book nerd.
(applause, supportive hugs, vodka shots, etc.)
So, who else among you is a book nerd? And who would like to be part of a bloggy book group?
Dunno about you, but I'm far too lazy to actually go to a book group and my house is way too messy to host one. BUT I love talking books with like-minded peeps. (ShadDUP! I've got an Honours Degree in English Lit and nothing to do with it, awroight?)
Soooo. One is proposing a new group blog. Whoever wishes to play will be included as a team member on said booky blog. One book a month, selected in turn by booky bloggy team members. The person who chooses the book writes a critique and all the other group members respond at their leisure in ze comments.
So, what say you, my loves?
(In strictly alphabetical order) actonb, Ariel, Audrey, Chesty, Eleanor, Gigglewick, Nai, killer rabbit, rosanna, sakura, thirdcat and phishez, I am looking at YOU.
But don't be offended if I haven't listed you - everyone is welcome and I was probabaly drunk when I wrote this.
So please, do flick us a comment and you can has booky blog cheezburger too! :)
EDIT: Can everyone who wants to play flick me an email at halfheartedhack@yahoo.com.au please? Apparently I have to email you to invite you to join.

OOh. I'll be in it. Sounds the fun. Cheers Redcap.
I *do* mostly read crap. But I'll try to make moderately cultured selections.
So long as no-one (AB, I'm looking at you) tries to make me read Austen.
Hmm, I like the idea but I've finally learnt from a lifetime of experience that I'm probably far too lazy to make a proper commitment. Let us know the address coz I'd like to pop in every now and then. (Oh and plus I'm probably too low-brow for most book groups. And too stingy to buy. And...)
Yo. Chesty. If I chooses, then you HAVE to read it... mwuahahahaha
er, that means I'm in. Unless aforestated Evil Plan™ means I'm banned...
redcap, i will certainly be an avid reader of this new blog! i love love love to read, however would not be able to give a decent critique, only some kind of lame arse 'it was rooly good' type thing. it will be great to have someone recommend good books to me as lord knows i've made some serious mistakes in the past!
small fry
I'll be in...as long as no one makes me read the celestine prophecy again
I think a book blog sounds like a perfect splendid idea. I am in with both foot and both hands :D
PS: I don't think you can critique a book if you are drunk.
*perfectly splendid. You made a grammatical error and I can't get my verb tenses right. We'll be wonderful in our reviews of books. HA.
I like the idea and I'll look forward to stalking you........as long as you don't write about freakin Harry Potter ;)
Have you room for one more? Would I, despite my relative newby status, be welcome? I'm always on the look out for book recommendations and can probably even throw in few myself.
chesty, fear not - I'm guilty of reading crap too.
lonie, will do!
acton, don't go scaring chesty like that! >;)
small fry, you can always join in later if you fancy.
thirdcat, I think you're safe there. I'd rather set my hair on fire than read the Celestine Prophecy.
rosanna, depends how drunk. Mildly tiddly, yes. Stone motherless trashed, no.
steph, stalk away - Harry won't be getting a look-in.
blakkat, certainly do, deary :)
Oh, I didn't get an invite
Oh, yer, I'm not a blogger and you know my reading taste.
Ok, I'll just take my literature and sit in the conner
Can we do a TV show group instead? Reading makes me sleepy.
Actually, if the books are cool, I think I'd give it a go, if I'm invited.
ted, yes, I do know your taste in reading material ;)
dr noisewater, certainly you're invited :) And I'm sure the books will very cool.
Me too! Me too! Can I play? Pick me! Pick me!
Of course you can count me in. Ooooh how exciting a book club, can we sit about drinking earl grey out of china cups - no wait hang on, I'll bring the tequilla you bring the lemon and salt.
Count me in!
sorry just read thirdcat's comment there and I laughed out loud - too true.
I can haz time to theenk bout it? (Hmm, I think that's vampire kitteh...)
Seeing as I'm currently midway through 5 separate tomes (lack ability to commit) and other readings are being heaped upon me at random (already overwhelmed by reading responsibilities) I fear I may be a dud choice for the mo. (Although, this confirms that my book nerd status is safely intact...)
But PLEASE can I be allowed to join later, as I feel quite honoured and think it a marvellous idea!!
OOOOOh!!! A TV show group! I can make ActonB watch Neighbours ...
I like that.
And when it comes to Austen, I can fake book reviews ... as ActonB well knows.
This is so exciting!
Certainly, Miss Meva!
sakura, tequila is the devil's drink! ~makes sign of the cross~
eleanor, sure :) Any time you like.
chesty, noooo! Please don't make us watch Neighbours! Anything but that!
Mildly tiddly? I haven't laughed so hard in weeks.
Can I join too? Though I'm with Chesty, couldn't stomach any Austen.
I'm in. I need some motivation to read something new, these days I'm a chronic re-reader.
rosanna, I once sat down with a couple of pals (yes, at a pub) and we came up with 48 distinct names for being drunk :D
ms experiment, sure can! Flick us an email so I've got your address.
nai, but if a book's worth reading, it's worth re-reading.
Thanks for inviting ME *sob sob*
Obviously you know that I read approximately 1/2 a page every week and would be of no use whatsoever.
I'm in! And I am relieved to see there will be no Harry Potter or Celestine Prophecy. Sounds fun - thanks for starting it up. Can't wait to see what your first pick is.
Red...you have stumbled on my passion. I read EVERY day!!!! i have all my current collection on aNobii...a site where you can categorise all of your books, share with others and find just about anything worth reading. Have a look on my blog. There is a link :)
sorry, pet - figured you wouldn't have much time left over from Idol bloggings. Would love to have you if you have time :)
ariel, yay! ~claps hands~
scorpy, double yay!
Oh, yes. I am so in. I do have to tell you I love your version of 'alphabetical' order. Was I tacked on the end to so that the list began with an 'A' and ended with a 'Z'?
Email me details. I may have to join my local library, but I'm totally up for it.
Oh dear. Yet more proof of my embarassing vagueness. I think it was the final Z that threw me... ;)
Fine! Go on then! Go be a nerd with your nerdy little bookclub, having tea and cupcakes and going "hahahaha". I'll just be over here...all by myself!
Aww, don't be like that Mr Pub. Come and have a nerdy cupcake with us.
